Partial Solar Eclipse

09:52 1/8/2008 UTC

< Previous Next >

Weather forecast wasn't very promising for this eclipse, mostly showers and thunderstorms. However during lunch hours sky cleared and I decided to haul my rig outside. In the beginning of the eclipse some clouds rifted over the sun, but during the deepest eclipse the sky was practically clear. In this picture the eclipse is at the deepest phase where almost 60% of the solar disk is behind the moon. The image is coloured to give more pleasant view over pink appearance produced by the Astrosolar filter. I also constructed a video covering about 40 minutes of the eclipse. The timespan of the video is 09h18m - 09h58m Universal Time
