M15

< Previous Next >This is merely a test image. I thought I'd pass autoguiding for a while and try how well would a PEC corrected tracking work for me. I taught PEC to my mount and 30s test exposures to the star I was training to looked very promising. So slewed I into M15. I did an EQ tango, and I think that was a mistake since balance tipped to the other side of the mount. I suspect that caused PEC to go off sync and some exposures had huge trailing back and forth. Still there was 50% of good frames, and result: a first DSLR image with Europa. Not so fancy but not much effort either. What was a nice surprise to me is, how sharp images all the way to the edges my Europa gives. We'll see if longer exposures reveal something not visible in this image.
