Mare Imbrium Region

< Previous Next >

I was originally visually observing the region but got fascinated about the view so much I had to setup my camera. Mare Imbrium is emerging from the shadow an already presenting the crates Autolycus and Aristillus. Mons Apennines above the Cap Eresnel is casting a beautiful shadow over the mare floor. The Alpine Valley I was originally going to observe is located at the bottom right corner of the image. Also an eye catching feature visible in this image is Rima Hyginus. It is the noticeably darker feature in the shores of Mare Vaporum, upper left side of the image. Notice the brightness variation from the terminator to the illuminated part which is overexposed in this image!
